Your Dreams Are Not Here For Your Excuses

Yes, you already know what I'm about to say...

The title says it all, you are the reason you're not living out your dreams. It sounds harsh and it feels even harsher when you realize it's your truth, but believe me, coming to the realization was probably the best thing I could've done for myself. Not only did I see what I was doing wrong, but once I started to make the changes, my life started to change.

I wanted to write this blog to share some the nuggets of knowledge that I picked up along my "self-realization journey." I started writing a journal and reading a ton of books about how people became successful and what they did. As I kept researching, I began to get overwhelmed, "I don't have the time, my regular job exhausts me, money, money, money." I didn't know how to attack all of these roadblocks I kept finding, and then I noticed there was one underlying commonality that all of these successful people shared, that was...prioritization.

I wanted to share some of the excuses I used to make for my stagnancy in my life, not to be negative, but because I believe there's a way for you to overcome it, as I'm still learning and working to overcome them too. We're in this together loves.

I'm Too Tired

Successful people are tired. All of those people flaunting around the world taking pictures that we admire on our phones, are tired. For anyone to think their dream comes without a cost is ignorant, and maybe not ready for the dream. I'm a teacher and single mother and this one was my favorite. It wasn't an exaggeration, I'm beyond exhausted at the end of the day, and when it seems like I don't have it in me, I remember my own vision of my best self, and I set a small goal of maybe 30 min to work towards that. You cannot expect to get closer to your goals without sacrifice. Set small daily goals of a certain amount of time you can dedicate to your workload,  make sure its doable, you don't want to burnout, but you want to make sure you keep taking a step closer everyday.

I Don't Have Any Support

Look, part of me wants to say you can do this on your own, but if there's anyone who understands the necessity of a tribe, it's me. My father once told me, not everyone is meant to go on your journey with you, and this is another harsh reality. If you're friends may seem to distance from you because you're spending your time investing into yourself, then they're probably not meant to be apart of it. Sometimes you may need to step out of your comfort zone and try something new to find the support that you need, what I mean by this is, find groups that share common ideas and visions as you. I found myself joining a women group known as The Societe, I really found solace and motivation there, and the knowledge I've taken from it, is priceless. Find your tribe, it may not be the ones around you, and that's just fine.

I Don't Have Time

YES YOU DO!!!! Think about all the things you do in a week, are these things more important than the vision you have of your goals? No. Most likely they're not. We do a million things in our day that are definitely not moving us closer towards our goals, but also are an inefficient way of spending our time. Remember time is money, time is your dream, time will help you become your best self. Start planning your day, and sticking to it. When friends want to do something but you have something scheduled, tell them no, and stick with your plan. Trust me, there will be another moment like the one you might miss.

I Don't Have Money

This one is major. This one hurts. This one will make your dream feel unattainable, but let me remind you Bruno Mars was homeless. OKURRR! I don't have to say much about this one, a single mother always has struggles, but what a single mother ALSO has is resourcefulness. And you have it too. Sit down and think about all of the skills you have, write them down, and use them to make a little extra on the side. I currently have my regular job, teach art classes to adults and kids, AND freelance on the side. In a nutshell, I've almost increased my income by half of my salary. Apps like UpWork and Fiverr are great ways to make extra money and eliminate this problem from your atmosphere.

I Can't Do It

This is probably the one that is the most internal and requires you to be introspective on a deeper level. The idea that you cannot do something has got be erased. Start by saying a daily mantra, even if it's as small as "I am enough," do it every morning without fail. Make your bed in the morning, put on pretty underwear, wear a bold lip. Do things that make you feel beautiful and eventually you'll begin to regard yourself as deserving more. There is nothing that separates the legends from you besides hard work and perseverance. We were all made for a purpose, and yours is meant for only you. Keep that with you.
Hopefully, this post help you realize that without prioritizing your life, you'll always have excuses and never have your dream. There will come a time when your goals will scream and echo through you, and when that time comes, you'll know it's time for sacrifice. No more excuses, just progress.

Imagine the things you could do, if failure wasn't an option.
